ZWSOFT CEO Interview – Part 5 – Next 20 Years: Stay True to the Mission

In the last part of ZWSOFT CEO Interview, Truman expressed his ideas about business models, business growth, and ZWSOFT's plan for the next 20.

Now let’s talk something about business. Some engineering software providers in the industry have switched to rental. What do you think of it?

To be honest, I don’t think which business model is better than the other one. I believe the ones that decide which model to choose are users instead of us providers. What they need and like are the things that really matter. If the permanent mode is preferred by more of them, we provide permanent licenses; while if more users prefer the rental one, we can also offer rental licenses. We respect our users, listen to their voices and make decisions accordingly. We hope to give them options, instead of forcing them to accept our decision.

So, how’s ZWSOFT’s global business going?

In the past 20 years, although going through ups and downs, we have achieved a compound annual growth rate of over 30%, which was robust. For the next 20, our goal is also an annual compound growth of 30%, which means that we need to grow 120 times bigger than now.

What’s special about the figure “30%”?

30% CAGR is for sure a hard nut to crack. It is a relatively high target in the industry, since the bigger the base number is, the more challenging the continuous growth will be, requiring very strong learning ability of teams and a considerable amount of resources to be invested in the future. But I just want to say, in the past 20 years, we made it. We have accumulated some valuable experiences, and everything is now on the right track. I always believe that from one perspective there is a plight, while from the other there may be light. So we are confident to accept this challenge.

How do you plan to achieve it in the next 20 years?

As a saying goes, those who don’t plan for the long term will lose the current; and those who don’t plan for a whole will lose a part. If we think long and take the whole picture into consideration, we will be more determined when facing some important decisions in the short term.

So what are our long-term goals? That is, we will be committed to helping users around the world design and manufacture all kinds of products with our reliable all-in-one CAx solutions, including CAD, CAM, CAE, etc., and establish a sustainable and all-win ecosystem, to promote industrial innovation and progress.

The key to achieving the above is our team. With the shared values, missions and visions, we do meaningful things together. I am proud of them as they are as tough as stones, and as sharp as swords.

All in all, just like what I’ve mentioned beforehand, standing at the starting line of the next 20 years, I am excited to lead ZWSOFT and everyone in it to continuously “evolve”, and to keep our feet on the ground to serve the industry in the era of intelligent manufacturing and 5G.
